The Agency buys into young black recruitment advertising consultancy

The Agency has delivered on its key objective of supporting the ends of true black economic empowerment by investing in a young, black and upcoming recruitment advertising business, TMMP Pula.

"Recruitment advertising presents a new opportunity for The Agency to grow its service offering. In addition we are always keen to work with individuals who bring value to our corporate philosophy and ethos of giving young South African entrepreneurs a chance – it's about a hand up, not a hand-out," says Khotso Tilo, managing director of The Agency.

"Furthermore TMMP Pula has been established for a year and has shown tremendous tenacity in a highly competitive environment. Although a successfully operating SMME, it was clear that the young entrepreneurs needed good infrastructure, the credibility of solid backing and financial resources if they wanted to grow further," adds Tilo.

The Agency, the largest wholly owned South African advertising business with 74 percent of shares in the hands of PDIs, were approached by the Pula founding partners, Thato Modise and Tsepo Motsatse in April. "From the start of our negotiations with The Agency's management we realised there was tremendous synergies across our ethos, culture and business 'fit'," says Modise. "We're really thrilled to have found a partner that has come to the party with so much enthusiasm, tremendous support and encouragement."

On the path ahead, Modise adds: "Our objective going forward is to bring recruitment advertising out of the staid 'HR' realm it currently fills. It is our belief that recruitment advertising forms a vital part of a company's communications and marketing and if it is to attract the best candidates for the job then it needs to be dynamic, powerful in message and visual execution as well as explicit about expected deliverables.
