The AAA School of Advertising is reportedly the first advertising school worldwide to have its students’ work appear in five consecutive issues of industry magazine Luzer’s Archive. Published bi-monthly and featuring cutting-edge advertisements from around the globe, Lurzer’s Archive is one of the most widely subscribed-to creative magazines in the world.
Says Rian Swart, faculty head of the Cape Town school’s Creative Department, “In our industry, it is important to benchmark ourselves against some of the top advertising schools on both a local and international level. Appearing in a magazine the stature and reputation of Luzer’s Archive is a great achievement not only for the school but for the students as well.
Ahead of the game
“It puts them ahead of the game in the industry and shows the world that the AAA School of Advertising can compete with some of the finest talent and give them a run for their money!”
Published six times a year, a few years ago it introduced a student section and made available an online gallery of student work for art colleges teaching art direction. From this gallery, the magazine has been selecting works it believes worthy of being published in the magazine.
In 2006, of the work submitted to the online gallery by the AAA School of Advertising’s Cape Town campus, two (both by Mark Haefele ) qualified for the 2006 competition to be included in consecutive publications; for the 2007 competition, Alexi McCarthy’s work has been selected three times.
