Weirdesign wins Gecko Grand Prix
At last week’s 11th Annual Gecko Awards for the Namibian advertising industry, the one and only Grand Prix went to Weirdesign for its ‘Maid in Africa’ ironing board ‘billboard’, with Runner-up going to DV8 Saatchi & Saatchi for Namibia Breweries' ‘Too Much is Too Much’ radio ad.
DV8 Saatchi & Saatchi again dominated the awards with a haul of 17, including 13 Silver Geckos, 3 Stone Awards (Gold) and the 1st Runner-Up.
Of all the awards, the bigger hauls were for the following:
- 17 to DV8 Saatchi & Saatchi (13 Silver, 3 Gold, 1 Runner-Up)
- 16 to Advantage McCann (15 Silver, 1 Gold)
- Nine Silvers to TBWA/Paragon
- Seven to Weirdesign (three Silvers, three Golds, one Grand Prix)
- Six Silvers to Red/Orange
- Two Silvers to Ogilvy Namibia
The judges for this year’s awards were Ross Chowles from The Jupiter Drawing Room (Cape) and Gerhard Myburgh from FCB Jhb.
