Youth issues under the lens - uncensored

Youth and music channel MTV Base (DStv Channel 88) is launching a new TV series which aims to get young Africans talking candidly about common issues which all youth face as part of growing up, including love, sex and emotional well-being.

MTV Base Uncensored, a weekly studio-based discussion programme, encourages interaction from young Africans from all over the continent, letting them have their say, uncensored, about the emotional and physical hurdles that are part of their daily lives.

Former computer programmer turned TV star, Sizwe Dhlomo, will host MTV Base Uncensored, assisted by an expert on sex and emotional issues who will act as programme 'counsellor', and a roving reporter who will travel throughout the African continent, including Zambia, Kenya, Uganda, Tanzania, Cameroon, Nigeria, Ghana and Senegal, to tape interviews and segments for the shows. The final presenter lineup will be announced at the end of March 2006.

The programme is a 16-week series which will be shot as live in front of a studio audience. MTV Base viewers across Africa will also have the opportunity to interact with the show, asking questions on the mtvbase.com website, or via e-mail, SMS or telephone.

MTV Base Uncensored will air weekly across Africa on MTV base via the DStv pay-TV bouquet from Thursday 4 May at 21:00 CAT.

MTV Base Uncensored is produced in association with Staying Alive, UNFPA, the United Nations Population Fund, and Family Health International's YouthNet as part of their efforts to disseminate positive messages about HIV & AIDS and reproductive health issues among young people.
