2005 has been a bumper year for MultiChoice, starting in February with the launch of the mini-bouquet, DStv Compact, which debuted with eleven channels from the premium bouquet; Animal Planet (Channel 67), ActionX (channel 6), BBC World (Channel 50), Cartoon Network (Channel 83) Channel O (Channel 87), Hallmark (Channel 8), Reality (Channel 42), Rhema Network (Channel 78), TBN (Channel 77), Supersport1 (Channel 23) and SABC Africa (Channel 52).
This business strategy gave potential subscribers an affordable entry level into pay television. Three more channels were added to DStv Compact; M-Net Series (Channel 36), The Fun & Games Channel (Channel 45) and SuperSport Update Channel (Channel 24) on 1 December.
October marked MultiChoice's 10th Anniversary, where the company celebrated all its milestones since its launch in 1995, and was also the month MultiChoice launched the DStv PVR, a first in South Africa.
