Music war at Mr Price Ballito

The biggest ever Battle of the Bands in Ballito, KZN, will be held on Friday, 4 June, 2010, at the Ebandla Hotel between 4pm and 9pm. The prize at stake for the two winners is a place on stage with some of the country's biggest talents.
Music war at Mr Price Ballito

The Mr Price Pro Ballito, which takes place between 2 and 11 July, has always been about big waves and big sound. Last year's Mr Price Pro Ballito Music Concert brought in a 7000-strong crowd. For the first time this year, the seaside sound celebration at Salt Rock has been divided into two: an acoustic night featuring the likes of Ard Matthews, Nibs van der Spuy and Farryl Purkis on Friday, 9 July, followed by a night of rock with Prime Circle, Flash Republic, Dirty Skirts, the Pixie Bennett Band and others on Saturday, 10 July.

Those wishing to enter the struggle to jam with the giants can send in an entry fee of R300 plus a demo to local organisers, The Studio. Those without demos don't need to stress, they can simply make an appointment with The Studio for an audition. Entries close on Friday, 14 May. The Studio will come up with a list of finalists for the Mr Price Pro Ballito play-offs.

There can be only two

However, just two bands can claim victory; one will have a slot during the acoustic night while the other will hit the stage and rock the following night.

This event is expected to draw a crowd of up to 2000 music lovers. Those who plan to party along will pay a cover charge of just R30.

From rock to reggae, from blues to jazz, there's something for everyone at the Mr Price Pro Ballito Beach Festival. Performers looking for gigs on the Mr Price Open Mike stage or during the Ballito Jazz and Prawn festival (July 2 to 4) can also contact The Studio.
