Collecting 5 tons of food for Mandela Day
The Big Bin Food Collection Launch was held yesterday, 27 June 2013 at Benmore Gardens Shopping Centre in Sandton.
The aim of Afrika Tikkun and the shopping centre is to collect 5 tons of non-perishable food items in the lead up to Mandela Day (18 July).
Shoppers can pop items in, as they visit the centre. Those wishing to do more can volunteer 67 minutes on Mandela Day to assist with the packing of this food into food parcels that will be distributed to families in need. The goal is to gather 10 000 food parcels to fight off hunger this winter.
