Previously presented at the Winter Olympics in Vancouver, the collection will be officially opened at a function on 15 June 2010, attended by the Italian Ambassador in South African, H E Elio Menzione and representatives of the Italian Football Federation. The exhibition will run until 11 July.
Italian designers whose work will be showcased include Cinni Boeri, Gaetano Pesce and Giorgio di Tullio. The collection, which tangibly demonstrates the strong bond that exists between culture, business and foreign policy, consists of several design categories, ranging from the environment, furniture and the web to mobility and innovation, culture and technology. Its aim is to stress the cultural dimension of design in an international environment.
To complement the exhibition, a symposium on 'Eco-design and Territory', takes place the Ruby Room, CSIR Conference Centre at 2.30pm on 17 June. Renza Fornaroli, curator of the collection and Prof Stefano Salvi, a member of the scientific committee of the collection, will participate in the discussions at this symposium.
