Trendy home catalogue offers easy shopping
The second edition comes fresh on the heels of the first edition, which was launched in late 2007. The Autumn/ Winter 2008 Boardmans Home Catalogue, spanning mid-February to end-June 2008, features a comprehensive range of home merchandise from kitchen, appliances to bedroom, bathroom and décor accessories. This time round, the home furnishing and décor directory is also promoting the season's latest trends, namely 'Collective Soul' and 'Eco-Living'.
When it comes to Eco-Living, bamboo-type product is a hot winter item. Bamboo is eco-friendly as it is exceptionally sustainable and grows rapidly. Various types of wooden product are highly sustainable. Banana leaf is also leading in this trend.
According to Edgars and Boardmans Home Living Trends Design Consultant, Dave Nemeth, "There's been a definite move away from minimalism and minimalist interiors towards a more structured or 'lived-in' feel. In the 90s right up to the 2000s, décor was quite neat and tidy. Now the trend is leaning to organised clutter e.g. putting out multiple items example picture frames and vases. People are displaying collections and memorabilia and these are no longer hidden away in a cupboard or drawer somewhere. This is also resulting in very eclectic mix of product going into homes and a combination of new and old as well as modern and classic."
The retailer's Gift Registry is proving to be another popular shopping tool for customers as it can be used electronically or in-store, and it caters for any occasion - not only weddings and so on.
"The launch of the first edition of the catalogue made a large range of merchandise available to consumers in the whole country even if they didn't have a Boardmans in their area. It also successfully promoted registry sales during the last quarter of 2007. Based on this success, we decided to release the second edition and extend the merchandise range extensively," says Vikashinie Maharaj, Home Living Product Manager, Edgars and Boardmans.
