CFVI shows some relief in financial indebtedness

The index shows that South Africa's consumer's financial problems are gradually decreasing although consumers are generally still experiencing financial difficulties. South Africans are still at risk although becoming less so as the economy starts to recover, incomes start to increase and consumers become better able to service their debts.

Points of concern are that a large number of consumers cannot keep up payments on their financial obligations, many consumers are still in arrears for three months or more, and many are obliged to make arrangements to pay off their debts/accounts over a longer period of time. In addition, many are not credit worthy as a result of over-indebtedness or impaired credit bureaux records.
