The evolution of air fresheners to rare scents

Fragrances have been used over many centuries to freshen the air and mask odours. The ancient Egyptians were famous for using natural ingredients such as musk to scent their tombs. Over the past 2,000 years, many natural ingredients have been used to enhance a home or environment. These include spices, floral extracts and more, which is essentially taking us back to the beginning of time, where people lived in a natural environment.
The evolution of air fresheners to rare scents

The modern air freshener

The first modern air freshener was introduced and developed only in 1948. This product used military technology - a pressurized spray can was made up of 1% perfume, 24% alcohol and 75% CFC propellant. This form of air freshener was one of a kind, where it delivered a mist of fragrance that lasted longer in the air. The market grew terrifically after that, and the air freshener became a standard household product.

In the 1950s, some companies decided to take it one step further by adding an odour-counteracting chemical. This would destroy the smell instead of only masking it. Unpleasant smells included cigarette smoke, urine and faecal odours, and cooking and fish odours.

Over time, the formula was modified, improving performance and functionality while reducing costs. However, in the late 1900s, people became concerned about the environment and the destruction of the ozone layer caused by CFCs. The market thus moved away from air freshener products and the industry had to change.

Why an automatic air freshener is great

Potpourri (a dry mix of herbs and spices) was introduced, as well as aromatherapy candles, which had health benefits. The next invention was a plug-in. This used heat generated by electricity to spread fragrances through the air. It has a tiny plastic tray that contains a gel-type of fragrance.

Automatic air fresheners can be installed anywhere in your building or home. They can be placed in bathrooms, but also in offices, meeting rooms, care areas, hotels, reception areas, schools or anywhere where a pleasant fragrance is needed. The air freshening intensity can be adjusted according to each individual's preferences.

These products are less harmful to the environment and leave a light fresh fragrance instead of a strong overpowering fragrance. There is a large variety of scents a person can choose from, depending on their tastes.

Many air freshener products only mask odours, but this particular product will neutralize them, creating a fresh and clean smell.

Rare scents
