The Media Image, a local digital marketing agency, with offices in Cape Town and London, is making waves in the industry as it has been shortlisted for one organic search (SEO) and two paid search (PPC) awards by international body the UK Search Awards.

Currently running for the fourth year, the UK Search Awards celebrates the very best in SEO, PPC, digital and content marketing in the United Kingdom. This is the very first time The Media Image has submitted an entry, and it is thrilled that it has been nominated for not one, but three awards!

The agency has been shortlisted in the following categories:

  • 'Best Use of Search - Gaming' for its collaboration with Coral entitled '2014 World Cup: Delivering on a fully integrated, cross-channel World Cup campaign

  • 'Best Local Campaign' for its Virgin Active and Gracewell accounts entitled, respectively, 'Virgin Active - A National Brand, A Local Approach' and 'Gracewell Healthcare Care Homes'.

Proving the agency's worth in the industry, this recognition is the latest in a string of nominations and awards the company has recently received. Last year saw the company win its very own Bookmark Award in the Paid Search Campaign category for its 'Virgin Active: How To Grow Leads By 160% With The Help of Mobile!' campaign, and received a nomination in the 'Best Youngster' category.

The Media Image was also nominated in the first RAR Awards which took place earlier this year, in the category of 'Online Media Buying'. This was a particularly special nomination for the agency due to it being based purely on direct input from its clients. This pays homage to the fact that The Media Image takes great pride in providing sterling client service.

The Media Image was founded in February 2008 by Grant Macfarlane who was Google UK's first AdWords hire back in 2002, when the platform changed from an impression-based search buy, to a pay-per-click model. Peter Brooke-Sumner then joined to head up the South African operation while Grant led operations from the UK division.

In the early years, The Media Image concentrated exclusively on paid search and quickly built up a large client base of blue chip clients, both in SA and in the UK. Being able to share industry knowledge between the UK and SA ensured that The Media Image's growing staff base were always exposed to leading technologies, strategies and ideas.

Several years ago they expanded their service offering to include a SEO division, led by industry veteran Darren Sheffield. The Media Image now proudly offers Paid Search, SEO, Display, Content, Design and Social Media disciplines as well as the use of the entire DoubleClick technology suite, with a staff contingent of over 35 all highly trained in the latest international strategies and developments.
