    Sharp growth for blunt magazine

Starting with the 2003 February issue, blunt magazine will be increasing its frequency from eight to ten issues a year. This is due to growing reader demand and increased advertising support.

As an example of their growing and committed readership here are two interesting facts that emerged in the last week:

Sony Playstation (part of the Ster Kinekor Group) recently had an independent workshop / focus group with 100 kids to see what brands they were into, what media they turned to for entertainment or information and what the trend is in SA towards gaming. One of the questions they asked the kids was "What is your favourite magazine?", 90 of the 100 kids said blunt magazine.

In their most recent issue, which went on sale 11 November, they included a reader survey (25 000 copies). The magazine has only been on sale for two weeks and already they have had almost 1000 respondents. As the closing date is 20 December they are expecting heaps more to be sent in.

blunt magazine is a youth lifestyle magazine with its roots in the board riding sub culture. Its current ABC is 17 876 - tenth consecutive ABC increase - making blunt the largest male youth magazine in SA. Our current print run is 25 000 and with a conservative pass on readership of four, the total readership is approximately 100 000 each issue.

blunt magazine reaches more of the direct target market than any other magazine because it not only appeals to the core rider but also to a vast pool of recreational skaters, surfers and bikers, and importantly, those who don't live the lifestyle everyday but relate and aspire to it.

Blunt magazine is published by Atoll Media, a division of Touchline Media and publisher of Zigzag and Saltwater Girl mag.
