Cannes Lions launches Young Lions Zone

LONDON: Young Lions and Student delegates attending the forthcoming 55th Cannes Lions International Advertising Festival will be able to further enhance their experience by visiting the new Young Lions Zone, a place where they can learn, be inspired and meet fellow young creatives, the organisers announced earlier this week.

In addition to taking part in all the festival activities open to all delegates, Young Lions and students will also be able to enjoy the many other benefits available in the Young Lions Zone, which will include free daily breakfast courtesy of Leo Burnett Worldwide, interactive kiosks showcasing all the competing entries, view the winning work from the Young Lions Competitions, exhibitions of student work from leading advertising colleges and universities from across the globe, a chill-out area and a host of Master Classes.

A series of 11 Master Classes offering exclusive, intimate and unprecedented one-hour sessions with leading industry figures will provide inspiration, a learning experience and insight of the most influential and forward-thinking personalities of the advertising industry. Speakers are:

  • Rick Boyko, Director, Professor - VCU Brandcenter
  • David Droga, creative chairman, Droga5
  • Matt Freeman, CEO - Tribal DDB Worldwide
  • Alexandre Gama, founder, chief creative officer, NEOGAMA/BBH
  • Bob Isherwood, worldwide creative director, Saatchi & Saatchi
  • Nick Law, chief creative officer, North America - R/GA
  • Piyush Pandey, executive chairman and national creative director, Ogilvy & Mather India & South Asia
  • Robyn Putter, creative head, WPP
  • Jim Stengel, global marketing officer, Procter & Gamble
  • Paul Woolmington, co-founder - Naked Communications
  • Jeremy Wright, global director, mobile brand strategy and Mark Freeman, creative director - both of Nokia Interactive

"Many companies send their young people to Cannes as part of their formal training, paid for by the training budget, and we are committed to ensuring that the Young Lions and Students get a world-class experience during their week at the festival. The fantastic line-up of speakers simply underlines that the Industry, too, believes in education and training for the people who will be the global leaders of the future," said Philip Thomas, CEO of the festival.
