Advertising & Marketing part time specialist courses, a way to go

It's always a dilemma... How can you improve your career education, when you're working? "Part time, evening and weekend courses are the answer", says Mel Tripp, campus administrator at the AAA School.

When it comes to the Advertising and Marketing industry, the AAA School of Advertising in Cape Town, is running Higher Diploma and Certificate Modules, for IMC (Integrated Marketing Communication) courses, plus Certificate Modules on the creative side for DTP, Concept and Copywriting and Graphic Design/Art Direction.

"The Nine modules that we offer in the Part Time IMC course, can either be taken individually, to 'top-up' on specialist subjects, like Media Management, Consumer and Buyer Behaviour or E-Marketing, if you already have some of the other marketing qualifications, like Brand and Account Management. Or, a minimum of five modules can be taken to complete the Higher Diploma.

"These are an ideal opportunity for people already in the industry, or looking to enter the industry, through courses that are fully accredited by SAQA, registered with the DOE and the Council for Higher Education. Plus, the AAA Diploma is also recognised by the IAA (International Advertising Association) out of New York.

"To my knowledge..." says Tripp "there are no other private institutions in the Advertising and Marketing field that can offer these fully accredited courses in Cape Town.

"In addition we are running Part Time Creative Courses, for DTP (Desk Top Publishing) graphics programmes, on Adobe Photoshop 6/7, Macromedia Freehand 10 and QuarkXpress 4.2. these can be taken in separate modules or all three at a discounted fee.

"The Concept and Copywriting course is scheduled for 2 weeks during April, in the school holidays and is aimed at stimulating the creative senses, with an insight into writing for the ad. industry, focusing on the conceptual thinking AND the creative writing.

"This course won't allow you to sell yourself as a writer to the industry, but will give you the opportunity to experience what it's all about, plus have a lot of fun..." say Tripp.

"The Graphic Design/Art Direction course will run over approximately 12 weeks and be aimed at people who have some Design/Art Direction experience and basic DTP skills, who want to sharpen their conceptual ideas and enhance these with improved excecutions, on corporate graphics, brochures, packaging, posters and press/magazine ads.

"The IMC courses start early March and run throughout the year. The Creative courses also get going from March, so anyone thinking of participating, should start acting now..."
