The flight of the Cape Loeries
The parties were reluctant to comment to our reporters on the situation that can only be described as an embarrassment. Charl Nel, Director: Business of Daddy buy me a pony, indicated to us that he definitely received the correct Gold Loerie on Saturday evening. However, he cannot explain how and when the switch took place. He added that he only put the Loerie down three times that evening: once in the gents, which did not have a light; then again very late that evening next to his shirt and pants at the Backstage Foam Party; and a few hours later on the Steers counter when ordering a burger. "When I arrived in Cape Town I noticed the Loerie in my hand had a small mark on its head and immediately realised it was not ours."
Jenny Ehlers, Creative Director of King James RSVP, also denied any possibility of a switch of the Gold Loerie on Saturday night. She added that she was definitely not in the gents or at the foam party or even at Steers, and she cannot explain the strange outcome of events. She added that some of the male members of her party had the gold bird some parts of the evening and one guy took it to his room for the night... "I noticed the discrepancy at the airport but then could not trace the Loerie's path back to really pin point the spot where the switch might have happened!"
Nel added that a formal exchange of Gold Loeries between the two companies will be arranged as soon as possible so that "we can back our rightful bird!"
