SA cartoonists band together for media freedom
29 South African cartoonists, including Zapiro (Mail & Guardian, Sunday Times, The Times), Jerm (The Times, Biggish Five) and John Curtis (Africartoons.com), have signed a petition protesting against the Protection of Information Bill and the Media Appeals Tribunal proposed by government. The petition was initiated by Africartoons.com. According to AfriCartoons, the website will feature a collection of cartoons addressing press freedom during the month of August.
