BikeTown Africa builds bikes for healthcare workers
Bicycling's BikeTown Africa, an international project providing bicycles to health-care workers so as to assist them in travelling to patients in Africa, ended the South African leg of this initiative in Stellenbosch.
Launched in 2006 the project started as a partnership between Bicycling Magazine, Rodale Press, Bristol Myers Squibb and Kona Bicycle Company. 1000 bicycles have been pledged for donation to health care workers across Swaziland, Mozambique and South Africa, between October and December 2008.
