Cape newspapers win big overseas
The awards ceremony, held in Paris on 26 April 2007, saw the Cape Argus receiving a total of four awards, including a second place Best in Show award for the campaign its advertising agency, King James, did for the relaunch of the newspaper in October 2006.
This same campaign also received a first place in its category (In-Newspaper Promotion: Circulation). Other awards for the Cape Argus were in the radio category for a Jobshop campaign, as well as for a print advertisement published in the trade magazines.
The Cape Times and its ad agency Lowe Bull received three awards (two second places and one first place) for print campaigns highlighting the Top of the Times, the sponsorship of the Cape Times/Waterfront Wine Festival and a poster campaign.
The 2007 INMA Newspaper Marketing Awards Competition received more than 1000 entries, from nearly 200 newspapers from 34 countries.
