SA outdoor company erects largest site in Lisbon for Euro 2004

Cape Based outdoor media company, Tractor Outdoor, have successfully secured and marketed the largest Building Wrap in Portugal for the forthcoming Euro 2004 football tournament.

For the months of June and July, over 1 million football fans from around the world will be converging on Portugal to watch 16 teams battle it out to see who will receive the mantle of European Champions.

The site itself is located in the heart of Lisbon's CBD, 1 km from both Major Stadiums (Luz and Jose Alvalade) – where most of the games are taking place, and strategically situated en route to the many bars and restaurants that Lisbon has to offer.

Tractor Outdoor and its affiliate companies have over the years built up good working relationships with a number of key property owners in both Asia and Europe. It was on the back of these relationships that The Tractor Group was approached to facilitate an outdoor advertising solution for the Amorim Group, Portugal's largest cork producer and property owner, with a view to maximizing revenue for the group for the upcoming Euro 2004.

"This project was a true testament to the internet and email and how it is making the world smaller and smaller" says Simon Wall of Tractor Outdoor. "The site is in Portugal, the client (Hyundai) is based in Korea, the media buying agency is based in London, the sale was made from our offices in Dubai and the print work completed in The Netherlands – facilitated by a South African company!"

At 1000 m2, the site dwarfs most of the smaller 48 sheeters that are currently being utilised in Lisbon. Installation and printing was handled exclusively by MMT Europe, a strategic partner of The Tractor Group, and took just under 10 days to print and install.
