FCB Plato Healthcare, one of the specialist advertising agencies within the FCB South Africa marketing communication group, has been named 'Supplier of the Year for 2002' by one if its key clients, Merck South Africa's Pharmaceutical Division.
Merck South Africa has five independent trading divisions - Pharmaceutical, Merck Generics, Laboratory Supplies, Pharmaceutical Manufacturing and Speciality Chemicals. Each year, suppliers to these divisions are critically evaluated against various criteria including consistent commitment to service excellence, quality, competitive pricing, professionalism, know how and expertise.
According to Merck South Africa, due to the high standard of service received from its suppliers, it is always a close margin between the 'Supplier of the Year' and those who are runners up for this award.
Pipping other finalists to the post in the Pharmaceutical 'category', FCB Plato was described by Merck South Africa as a 'true partner'. Handing over the award, Merck Pharmaceutical director Godwin Jacobs said: "We have built a sound relationship with FCB Plato over a number of years, during which the agency has developed an excellent understanding of our business needs.
"They have assisted and consulted us on a number of projects and worked really hard towards an outstanding final product. This is a 'hands on' supplier who has paid attention to us and applied themselves 100%."
