Converse gets dirty for good

The Converse Get Dirty event during June this year was more than just an opportunity for fans to come together at a live music experience, it was also an opportunity for people to give back with 100% of the proceeds going to two social enterprises - Greenpop and See-Saw-Do.
Converse gets dirty for good

See-Saw-Do focuses on the transformation of spaces in which children learn and grow. They aim to educate children through the use of mother-tongue reading material. Ultimately seeking to identify a need, (see), design a solution (saw) and facilitate the change (do). See-Saw-Do will utilise the donation to uplift an early childhood development centre in the Western Cape, by transforming their physical environment with bright colours and motivating murals. Understanding the value of learning, they will also provide educational material and other items required by the centre, such as mattresses, bowls and utensils.

Greener tomorrow

Greenpop is a social business that believes greening and sustainable living can be fun and accessible for all. They believe in inspiring a greener, more conscious, inclusive movement and do this through tree planting projects, green events, education, social media, 'voluntourism' and encouraging people to start doing more for a greener tomorrow.

The donation will be used to build an urban food forest and aquaponic system at the Greenpop nursery, which will act as a workshop and learning space for students as well as educate the surrounding community about producing food locally. Ultimately their mission is to open an operational tree nursery, a food production area and a space that involves the community.

Both social enterprises are united with Converse by a common thread - giving back to the creative community. Converse looks forward to ensuring that through these donations they will be able to inspire and uplift the local community in a unique way.
