Bid to save Cape Town City Ballet

In a rare collaboration between business and the arts, it comprises several vignettes representing different styles, performed to the music of Vivaldi, Chopin, Brahms and Strauss. Taking inspiration from some of the greatest poetry classics such as 'I Wandered Lonely as a Cloud' by William Wordsworth and 'Tiger, Tiger Burning Bright' by William Blake, the show guarantees to be an unforgettable experience.

Cape Town City Ballet director, Elizabeth Triegaardt said, "Lack of financial support has resulted in the very sad prospect that we may need to shut our doors. We appreciate the company's support and the offer of assistance, which we hope will help us continue the long-standing tradition of outstanding performing arts in Cape Town."

“The company's brand draws inspiration from the elegance and sophistication of ballet and it is a passionate supporter of the arts and believes that the beauty, art and grace of Cape Town City Ballet cannot be lost,” comments Poetry marketing manager, Evan Torrance. He adds, “This initiative, directed by Veronica Paeper, South Africa's most prolific ballet choreographer promises to be a poignant event showcasing Cape Town's most talented dancers.”

Poetry in Motion will run from the 6 - 15 May 2010 at the Artscape Theatre - tickets are available at www.computicket.co.za.
