LONDON: The final deadline for Bloom, the onedotzero and MTV Networks International (MTVNI) Creative competition, is 31 January 2007. Bloom is a global search for the best young moving image talent around the world to express innovative new visions of the contemporary world through one-minute films.

onedotzero, this year celebrating its 10th anniversary, is one of the largest international festivals of innovative moving image, sourcing and showcasing the most progressive work from all around the globe. The festival tours over 40 countries each year. onedotzero also operates in the areas of DVD label, short film distribution, exhibition, and production.

MTV Networks International Creative is responsible for global on-air branding campaigns and creative aspects of MTVNI programming initiatives for music, comedy and kids' brands across MTVNI's 134 TV channels, 28 broadband services and 28 mobile TV channels and services.

The team also implements the creative around MTV's international events and trade marketing and manages on-air/off-air promotion, graphics and design for MTVNI's channels around the world. MTVMNI Creative develops the on-air/off-air creative surrounding initiatives generated by the MTVNI music, sponsorship and public affairs teams across MTVNI's diverse portfolio of brands and digital platforms.

One-minute film

The competition is aimed at students, graduates and other new up-and-coming creators, filmmakers and moving image makers, who must submit creative treatments for a one-minute film which represents their environment, local country and community as seen through their eyes, using innovative techniques to reveal their perception of their place and its connection with the global community.

Bloom celebrates the uniqueness of different cultures while challenging outside perceptions and encouraging youth to think differently and pioneer new film concepts to explore a view of their country that others would not normally see through creativity and film innovation.

The winning creative treatments will be commissioned by MTVNI Creative and onedotzero and be given the chance to be shown on MTV channels and digital platforms worldwide and feature in the onedotzero festival as it tours across the world. The films will also be showcased on a website gallery, complete with credits and contact details for the winning directors.

Film treatment

The techniques used in the film treatment are completely open and may include animation such as stop frame, cell and digital techniques, as well as motion graphics, 3D, photography, film, video and interesting use of audio.

MTV and onedotzero are looking for impressive responses, both in terms of mood and emotion, and in terms of technique and exploring new angles that challenge conventional perception.

The entries will be judged by a panel of experts from MTV Networks International Creative and onedotzero. Winners will be announced in February 2007.
