SA's top creative minds to be lauded in the Zulu kingdom
The coastal town of Margate, the Zulu Kingdom's most popular holiday destination on the South Coast and neighbouring town, St Michaels, with its spectacular beaches and laid back atmosphere is all set to wow about 2500 of the country's most creative minds during the annual Loerie Awards this weekend.
The two-day awards ceremony which recognise, reward and foster creative excellence in the advertising, communication and design industries, is expected to contribute more than R5 million in tourism revenue.
Margate, traditionally a hive of activity during the summer season and during the annual Sardine Run marine phenomenon in June, will roll out the red carpet for the two day celebration; which includes the awards ceremony, cocktail parties as well as a golf tournament.
Miller Matola, Tourism KwaZulu-Natal Chief Executive Officer, said: "Being awarded the host status for an event such as the Loerie Awards is yet another confirmation of the acknowledgment that the Zulu Kingdom is indeed a place to be.
"The Zulu Kingdom is the undisputed domestic destination of choice in the country and we are finding that this confidence is being duplicated in a number of other industries such as investment, property and corporate business."
Matola added that the provincial tourism authority and the Ugu Municipality were committed to ensuring that the organisers and guests enjoyed an "unforgettable tourism experience" in the Zulu Kingdom.
