    Outdoor AMPS

    There is an upward trends across the medium. A number of outdoor media types have achieved further growth in the market.

    There has been a good deal of movement on the outdoor scene, with three media types growing their 7-day penetration, and the rest showing growth in various sectors of their audience.

    Continuing its upward climb is billboard advertising, with 74.8% of people (22.677-million) being exposed to this medium, up significantly from 73.5% in the previous survey. Billboards have grown their audience in large urban areas, Limpopo and Gauteng.

    Exposure to store advertising (facias) has grown significantly over AMPS 2003B - from 81.0% to 82.5% (25.004-million people). This media type is up in large urban areas, the Western Cape, and the Free State.

    Truck advertising exposure is also up significantly, from 49.9% in the previous survey, to 52.4% (15.896-million). Gains have been made in metro and large urban areas, the Western Cape, Free State, Eastern Cape, and Gauteng.

    Profile shifts:

    • Buses - up in large urban areas, the Free State, and Gauteng.
    • Bus shelters - up in KwaZulu-Natal.
    • Taxis - up in large urban areas, the Western Cape, and Gauteng.
    • Trains - up in the Eastern Cape.
