Suppliers form forum to establish code of ethics

After recent irregularities in the telecommunications industry, the Southern African Communications Suppliers Forum (SACSF) has been formed by a group of suppliers, who intend to establish a code of ethics within the industry.

By joining forces to address the growing concerns, the forum will address supplier-vendor issues and, more importantly, will promote good business practice throughout the industry. One of its aims is to influence the government's decisions and legislation concerning communications.

Providing a platform for telco suppliers to share information and expose vendors who are exploiting local businesses, SACSF will work in close co-operation with the media to publicise unethical business practices and corruption within the industry.

Blacklist unethical businesses

Its primary objective is to create a sound business environment with SACSF serving as the mouthpiece for the industry. It will also provide a list of credible vendors and suppliers and also blacklist unethical businesses that do not adhere to the forum's code of ethics.

Other initiatives that have been earmarked include skills development and training.
