2013 Solal Marketing Awards South African winners
Only 13 Golds were awarded along with 32 Silvers from the initial 227 entries from 24 competing countries.
Five awards, two Golds and three Silvers, were won for campaigns from South Africa's Primedia Lifestyle Marketing Services, and one Gold was awarded for the Giant Ice Slide in Canal Walk, Cape Town.
"We are absolutely thrilled with our accolades," says MD of South Africa's Primedia Lifestyle Marketing Services, Doug Mayne, "particularly because this is the best we have fared. I extend my thanks to the marketing teams involved, particularly to the Gateway team who walked away with three of the awards and to our subsidiaries Red Pixel and Media Xpress for their involvement and to Primedia Unlimited's Mall Division's CRM and digital company Source."
Donald McClellan, Pine Crest Centre's marketing manager, who was in London to collect the awards, said, "It was as incredible evening with marketing companies from around the globe supporting and congratulating one another. These awards epitomise the very best that shopping centre marketing has to offer and its rewarding to see South Africa being recognised for its skills. On the down side though, I had to pay in some extra baggage fees to bring the awards home."
Awards
The company's Gold awards were in recognition of campaigns for the Gateway Theatre of Shopping's 'Material World' (Vodacom Durban July Fashion Preview) and Cavendish Square's Lifted campaign. Silver awards were received for the Gateway Theatre of Shopping's VIP Launch and Hotel Takeover campaigns and for Musgrave Centre's 'The Professional Shopper' campaigns.
All the winning campaigns contained a mix of unique marketing ideas, fully integrated with multiple media channels, CRM, digital, design, advertising and sponsorship elements all coordinated and conceptualised by the company and its subsidiaries.
