A sub-brand of Yum! Brands, KFC Southern Africa earlier this year allocated a total of R30 million to hunger relief campaigns throughout Africa with R15 million of the total funds allocated to South African based charity initiatives supported by the brand on an on-going basis.
Yum! Brands, earlier this year announced Aguilera as the global spokesperson for the brand's World Hunger Relief campaign. Its annual campaign is the world's largest private sector hunger relief effort to raise awareness, volunteerism and funds to benefit the United Nations World Food Programme (WFP) and other hunger relief agencies. More than 36 000 company and franchised KFC, Pizza Hut, Taco Bell, Long John Silver's and A&W All-American Food restaurants located in more than 110 countries participate in the World Hunger Relief.
Raising awareness
Aguilera, along with her South African counterparts will together help raise awareness for the issue of hunger by appearing in public service announcements, advertising and posters made possible by Yum and its brands.
“We at KFC Southern Africa are extremely pleased by the recommitment of both Hlubi and Jack who have remained passionate and loyal to our hunger relief endeavours. I also want to take this opportunity to welcome Lebo and Siya to the team, knowing with their support we will raise tremendous attention to this critical issue,” said KFC Southern Africa MD, Keith Warren.
The recently launched KFC Add Hope campaign includes a number of activities encouraging public participation. Of these is the in-store activation giving consumers the opportunity to make a difference in a small, yet powerful and effective way by simply adding R2 to every meal purchased. Through this activity alone, the brand aims to raise R3 million for hunger relief in South Africa.
