Be photographed with 2010 trophy

For one day only, official FIFA World Cup partner Sony will provide a rare opportunity for the public to view the 2010 FIFA World Cup Winner's Trophy. If you want a free photo of yourself with the trophy, then be at Melrose Arch in Johannesburg on Friday, 28 August 2009, between 10am - 9pm.

The trophy will be displayed in the public area next to The Meat Co restaurant.

According to FIFA's requirements, no brands other than those that have a sponsorship agreement with FIFA may be visible on pictures that are taken with the trophy. Those interested in posing for a picture with the trophy will be provided with alternative clothing if they are wearing clothes with other branding. Security arrangements are extensive and no one may touch the trophy.

“As soccer fever heightens in the build-up to the World Cup, and with the superb performance by the South African soccer team in the recent FIFA Confederation Cup, many South Africans are becoming increasingly hopeful that there is a chance the FIFA World Cup Trophy will remain in South Africa,” says Ulana van Biljon, GM of Melrose Arch.

Until this happens, the display at Melrose Arch by Sony is the closest that South African fans in Gauteng will be able to get to the FIFA World Cup Winner's Trophy!
