Fifty Shades of Grey breaks records at Nu Metro

Fifty Shades of Grey, which was released nationwide in South Africa on Friday 13 February 2015 created the biggest opening weekend for the national cinema chain, Nu Metro. It was also biggest Saturday (in terms of box office revenue and attendance) and the biggest Girls' Night Out (based on the women-only pre-release screening of the film last Thursday 12 February). It has achieved similar record-breaking results in other territories worldwide, including being hailed as one of the biggest box office openings for a film with a female director.
