Pop up origami campaign inspires thoughts on savings
A pop up origami installation was set up in London by European savings' brand, Raisin.com, Retroviral and South African origami artist, Ross Symons, to question bystanders on their personal views of finance.
Bystanders gave varied answers to the question 'What are you saving for?' Their responses included "holidays", "horses" and "Italian cars". Symons then folded a bank note into the physical manifestation of each answer. The bank note was used as the catalyst for what can be achieved by saving for your dreams.
Symons had collaborated with Origami for Africa, a non-profit organisation that teaches origami to children from Khayelitsha, Cape Town. In exchange for making the origami cranes, the children were taught about earning pocket money and the value of savings. 1,000 origami cranes (birds) were folded by Origami for Africa which were then flown to London's South Bank where they were used as the key feature of the pop-up installation and symbolised the various services offered by Raisin.com.
