Increased African film royalties

The Film Resource Unit (FRU) paid out just over R1.2 million in royalties to African filmmakers between 1 April 2001 and 29 October 2002. The combined amount for broadcast and video royalties is more than three times the amount spent in the last three years put together, indicating an unprecedented increase in interest in African films.
