Mansion Ice Party
Oooops, did we forget to tell?
The saying 'Please Don't Tell', has become synonymous with a private event's organisation - it started out ten years ago and has gained momentum from then. Parties have taken place in Miami, LA, New York, London, Cape Town and Johannesburg but their primary location (and where most of its members are based) is JHB. However due to their privacy and exclusivity it's unknown how to become a member or which company is actually behind it.
The recent Linksfield Mansion Party, held on 26 November, had a confirmed guest list of 1084 people. Organisers hand-picked just over 800 primary guest and allowed 1 friend per member to be added until 1050 guests were reached. Within several hours the list had reached the capacity and was closed before an sms saying so was sent out - resulting in over 250 people that also requested to come, being turned away.
But why such rapidity to attend such an event you may ask? Well over 75% of the people that attend are the social elite and 'who's who' of South Africa, not to mention that any international public figure that is in the country during the time of the event is also invited to attend. Local award winning bands play but the other advantages are once again kept secret.
It's not all partying - there is always a good cause behind each event, whereby the organiser helps raise awareness about different charity funds. For this event, the charity of choice was the SPCA Sandton. Girls were asked to donate food or money and spend time on dedicated days with the animals before being entitled with entry into the event. Men were asked to meet at a hotel on select days, whereby they were provided with information on several new charity funds coming up for funding, and later focusing on the SPCA.
Fusion Caramel Vodka's were given as welcome drinks and throughout the night over 5000 shots were consumed. Organisers were walking around free pouring the new favourite drink.
The event allowed for 'old and new' socialites to mingle with each other, some of the new primary members that were added for the first time and don't mind being mentioned, Justin Devaris (Daytona Group), Nick Liebmann (Calio Investment), Jonathan Kohler (Landsdown Investment Properties), Michael Otten (OnePet Insurance), and Kylie Botes (FHM model).
Diesel showcased their latest summer sunglasses which were recently launched worldwide; Monster promoted their new to South Africa drink that has now taken-over in the USA as the leading energy drink, and Lindt joined in by showing guests what a further buzz they can experience by mixing Lindt chocolate truffles with Monster. Patron and oysters were also made available through the ever-popular alcohol bar service, Thirst.
If you are wondering how to become a member, there is only one sure but obvious way to join 'Please Don't Tell' and that is to become a 'who's who' or make friends with one.
