    FNB Botswana appoints new CEO

    Lorato Edith Boakgomo-Ntakhwana has been appointed as chief executive officer of First National Bank of Botswana (FNBB). Boakgomo-Ntakhwana is the first black female to be appointed to this position.

    Born in Botswana, Boakgomo-Ntakhwana has experience working for the Bank of Botswana and the South African Reserve Bank for a combined period of 17 years prior to joining the FirstRand Group in November 2004.

    At FirstRand Group she held the position of deputy group treasurer, head of international banks relations and head of FICC Africa operations for a period of four years in Rand Merchant Bank. Thereafter she assumed responsibility of a newly formed division, Balance Sheet Management - Africa in FirstRand which is responsible for the capital management, credit management and asset and liabilities management of the Africa subsidiaries.

    Boakgomo-Ntakhwana holds a Masters in Business Administration with Majors in Finance and Accounting from the Loyola College in the United States of America and a Bachelor of Commerce with Majors in Accounting and Management from the University of Botswana.

    Her professional qualifications include a Certificate for Traders from South Africa Institute of Financial Markets and a Certificate for Traders from South Africa Institute of Financial Markets and a Certificate in Treasury Managements from the University of South Africa. She has also attended a senior executives programme by Wits/Havard partnership.
