“SANParks is glad to devote 67 minutes of its time to St Anne Primary School. We could not think of a better way of spending this day than with the children. There is no doubt that Madiba championed amongst other things, a better future for the young ones,” said SANParks acting head of communications, William Mabasa.
St Anne Primary School was founded in 1945, as a Roman Catholic school which catered for people who were forcefully removed from Marabastad, Bantule and Newclare. It was handed over to Bantu Education in 1970. The school has 548 learners and caters for underprivileged children from all over the township of Atteridgeville.
SANParks in creating a sustainable and beneficial relationship with the community, looks forward to working with St Anne Primary School and transferring vital skills which will enable the school and community to make a difference in their own area. “After everything that Nelson Mandela did for this country and the world at large, it is up to individuals and organisation to make a difference in communities around them,” concluded Mabasa.
