The International Maritime 'Work Experience and English Business Communication' (IMWEB) Programme is an intensive six-week work experience and education development programme for individuals with a qualification - or studying towards a qualification - in Shipping and/or Transport Logistics and who wish to build a career in the maritime industry.
Intl exchange programme for the maritime industry

The IMWEB Programme is facilitated in Durban, South Africa, which is reportedly Africa's busiest port. It offers candidates the opportunity of being mentored and coached by specialists from different sectors of the maritime industry.

The programme is work-based allowing candidates to learn systems and processes applied in the international maritime sectors as implemented in a typical work context. Candidates will be hosted by - and exposed to - different companies and government organisations across different sectors of the industry.

Candidates will be required to complete and present a detailed case study at the conclusion of the six-week programme.

The programme offers candidates the unique opportunity of obtaining knowledge and skills in a practical work environment under the mentorship of specialized experts.

This unique experience will be of immeasurable benefit to candidates in their future careers and will bring value to the Employers and Maritime sectors in their home countries.

Candidates who meet the programme criteria will be issued with Certificates of Participation and Completion as well as Letters of Recommendation for inclusion in their CV's. Candidates will be issued with a Work Experience Logbook to record their work-related experience which will be signed off by different stakeholders involved in the programme.

This programme is available only to a limited number of candidates who are carefully screened by the Programme Managers.
