Pastel Payroll wins 2012 Development Achiever Award

Pastel Payroll has won the Banking and Financial Services category in the 2012 Achiever Awards to honour excellence in skills development and commitment, presented by the South African arm of international natural resources and commodities conglomerate BHP Billiton.

Laurica Kok, general manager at Pastel Payroll said Pastel Payroll, a payroll and HR software solutions provider, entered its Certified Payroll Administrator qualification which was placed in the top three among hundreds of entries in the Best Training Programme Small Company (100 employees) category of the awards, presented at the CSIR in Pretoria.

"We have adopted a unique approach to business skills training, ensuring that it is totally relevant to the environment in which it is to be applied," said Laurica Kok, general manager at Pastel Payroll. "To achieve this we enhance our training material by including practical case studies and activities within an experiential learning cycle that ensures the skills students develop are totally applicable to their working environment."

Course covers problem solving

Kok adds that the training equips students to manage a payroll and small HR environment, covering all aspects relating to payroll and employees, including laws governing employment and ensuring legislative compliance. "Our course covers both theoretical and practical aspects of our payroll software solutions, including flexible processing options that save considerable time in exercising payroll runs and ensuring effective remuneration processing."

Pastel Payroll also trains students in problem solving techniques within the overall objective of educating students in the effective automation and legal management of payroll and HR environments and alleviating voluntary or involuntary non-compliance with tax and labour legislation.

The training is accredited by FASSET and all trainees attending the Pastel Payroll Certified Administrator (PCA) qualification training and successfully complete the PCA examination, receive credits towards other formal qualifications such as appropriate diplomas and degrees.

Students are also able to join a professional organisation, the Institute of Certified Bookkeepers and receive the designation CSPAlcb (SA) which identifies them as qualified payroll administrators.
