Rockspaaider battle of the bands
The Afrikaans youth supplement JIP, which appears in Die Burger, Beeld and Volksblad, will again be presenting its Rockspaaider battle-of-the-bands competition, in partnership with DStv channel MK. The competition will run between 23 July and 28 August, 2010.
JIP's national editor, Corlia Goosen, says this year's competition will work a little different from previous years and that bands will be judged nationally and not regionally as done previously.
"Eight top bands will be chosen nationally by a panel of judges and will then systematically be voted out by Rockspaaider viewers. The top-three reamaining bands will receive world-class training from industry leaders and bands will be shown how to shoot their own promotional material, she said, adding that the remaining three bands will organise, perform and premote their own gig in their home town for a guaranteed place in the top two.
Knock-out round
The knock-out round starts on 23 July at the Hoër Volkskool in Potchefstroom and will end on 28 August at Randburg High School in Johannesburg.
The winning band will be announced at the live final, which will take place on 11 December, 2010.
They can look forward great prizes such as an EP, a music video that will be aired on MK and publicity in JIP.
