The star grading scheme for the Meetings, Exhibitions, Special Events (MESE) sector, is a world first for the South African tourism industry, making the Sandton Convention Centre the only venue in the world to carry this endorsement of excellence.
Executive Director of Sandton Convention Centre, Nomaxabiso Majokweni, says the Five Star grading means more than just meeting minimum expected standards, but a recognition of the outstanding quality of service the centre offers.
Sandton Convention Centre is managed by Southern Sun Hotel Interests and developed by Tsogo Sun. Located in the heart of Sandton's hotel, business and entertainment district, Sandton Convention Centre offers easy access to over 5000 hotel rooms, is adjacent to the country's top shopping and entertainment complexes and provides 10 600 secure parking bays. There is over 22 000m² of convention, exhibition and special event space. The Pavilion can seat 4500 patrons. The Ballroom can seat 2000 banquet guests and the 13 other meeting rooms can accommodate up to 350 delegates. The two exhibition levels have a combined floor space of 11 000m².
