"Watches are worn by practically everyone, from pre-teens through to senior citizens! It is a 'life accessory' that everyone needs and uses. The publication is aimed at both men and women, and will provide highly informative, exciting, original editorial centred around the world of watches, jewellery and other must have fashion items," says Jason Aarons, publisher of Tick Tock and a former publisher of SA Jewellery News magazine.
"Tick Tock is a pioneering magazine concept in South Africa that is far removed from the annual 'jewellery feature' published by other magazine titles. We aim to be the only consumer magazine that, on an ongoing basis, actively promotes and shares the wealth of talent and knowledge within SA's watch and jewellery industry."
The title is aimed at collectors, the serious fashion- and brand-conscious, the average 'Joe and Jane' in the street, for sporting types - for anyone who wears a watch. It will be edited by Deleen Wilson.
"Based on our industry knowledge, we envisage core readership to sit between the 21 and 50 year-old age group, falling within the LSM 6-10+ groupings - from individuals who sport entry-level timepieces to high nett worth individuals whose budgets know no bounds!" says Aarons.
"Tick Tock boasts a dual cover design (i.e.: front and back covers) which synergises with our concept of having two clearly defined sections: one aimed at women and the other at men. Aside from providing our editor, Deleen Wilson, and advertisers the opportunity to hone in on these two genders, it makes for exciting on-shelf or counter-top display, and creative in-store promotions and campaigns."
To be published alternate-monthly, Tick Tock will be distributed nationally through selected retailers, as well as other targeted outlets falling beyond primary retail points, and on subscription.
Reach will also encompass local and international watch and jewellery exhibitions/expos and jewellery retailers nationwide. Other points presently being assessed include consumer and lifestyle shows/expos held annually in South Africa, such as Jewellex International, Cape Jewellery Show, Design Indaba, JewelFair, and SA Fashion Week.
Through the network connections of Blue Planet Media, which is a member of the Jewellery Council of South Africa, Tick Tock will be promoted in both the southern African and global arenas at events such as BaselWorld (Switzerland), Vicenza Oro1, VicenzaOro2, Orogemma (Italy), International Jewellery London (UK), and World Jewellery Expo (Canada).
Watch out for the in-house marketing, promotional campaigns and public relations activities for the title across print and electronic platforms, aimed at both trade and retail markets.
