Addressing the first group of TAC graduates since the re-opening of this College in 2010, the North West MEC for Department of Agriculture and Rural Development Desbo Mohono said the College has just received candidacy phase accreditation from the Council of Higher Education.
"We have successfully registered the qualification of Diploma in Agriculture, specialising in Irrigation with the South African Qualifications Authority (SAQA), and we are ready to admit new students into this Diploma programme," she said, adding that the qualification is of relevance to the Taung area, which practices farming largely under irrigation. Seven graduates received Diplomas in Agriculture, specialising in Mixed Farming, one graduating with first class. Three of the graduates are employed already.
According to Allafrica.com, Mohono said the Department is pleased with the quality of training offered at the College. She added that the Department "releases these graduates to the nation with confidence and pride".
