KWV sponsors community programme
Miqlat, a community upliftment organization located in Paarl, concentrates on the delivery of numerous community development programmes and is dependent on donations from business and community partners. Its 'Project First Step' initiative, sponsored by KWV as part of its Khula programme, took 16 candidates through a brief course on basic computer skills, the compilation of a curriculum vitae, interpersonal skills, time management and preparation for prospective interviews.
In addition to these professional skills they were also taught life-skills such as how to communicate and interact with those within the community and workplace, set up a budget, how to be positive in their outlook on life and that, without passion, goals are worthless.
"The company believes that it has a fundamental responsibility to assist in creating prosperity for all, thereby improving the lives of disadvantaged communities in our country. We are pleased that the students feel the course has enriched their lives and believe that they will use their new skills to enrich the lives of others," said Zanele Xaba, stakeholder relations manager for KWV.
