Still time to participate in national startup survey
The findings of this survey, described as the only one of its kind in South Africa, are expected some six to eight weeks after the cut-off.
Donna Rachelson, CEO of Seed Academy, says, “The 2016 survey will allow us to assess what progress has been made in the past year and establish the most fitting and pressing interventions that are required to bring down the high failure rate of startups that we see in our country.
“Our first survey, undertaken last year, helped us better understand the state of startup businesses across South Africa and provided a thorough snapshot of our national startup ecosystem.”
“The more businesses that participate in the survey, the more accurate and nuanced the results of the survey will be. Our intention is to build on the information gathered last year on the kind of support startup entrepreneurs need for greater success.
The survey considers entrepreneurs in different environments such as urban, township and rural; the sectors in which they operate; the markets in which they are building their businesses – business to business (B2B), business to consumer (B2C) or business to government (B2G); and the success rates of local compared to foreign entrepreneurs across the SA ecosystem.
Those that participate could win one of three business support packages valued at R30,000 each, one of two seats on an accelerator programme valued at R15,000 each and one of five places on an entrepreneur bootcamp valued at R5000 each.
