Global Traffic Index for the retail industry launched

ShopperTrak and FootFall, providers of consumer behaviour insights and location-based analytics, have announced a breakthrough global traffic index.
Global Traffic Index for the retail industry launched

An industry first, the global traffic index will combine the power of two established solution providers to offer retailers and shopping centres the ability to benchmark performance and understand trends in various major markets around the world. Additionally, the index offers access to geographically based traffic trends in order to support real estate decisions.

"As a trusted advisor in the retail space, we are committed to providing our customers with meaningful solutions that enable their success," said Nick Pompa, COO of FootFall. "The index will serve as the de facto standard on retail traffic and truly capture the pulse of shopper behaviour globally. It will allow retailers to put performance into context, adjust operations and better succeed in a dynamic landscape."

40 billion global shoppers

The retail index will be made available through the existing ShopperTrak and Footfall network and count more than 40 billion global shoppers annually. A one-stop shop for understanding retail performance, the index will provide granular and highly accurate insight into the number of shoppers visiting retail stores and shopping centres.

Additionally, retailers can pair shopper visit data with Tyco Retail Solutions' inventory intelligence and shrink visibility data to yield actionable insights to drive store sales and profitability.

"We're thrilled to come together under Tyco Retail Solutions and stake our claim as the go-to global data and analytics provider for the retail industry," said Kevin Kearns, CRO of ShopperTrak. "We will continue to develop our offerings; the index is the first of many innovative solutions that will benefit brick-and-mortar retailers and shopping centres."

Together, ShopperTrak and FootFall now manage in excess of 150,000 devices and serve more than 2100 customers.
