Fostering awareness for male cancers – protecting your physical and financial wellbeing
Tony Singleton 15 Nov 2024
Mo Men have the remainder of the month to grow and groom their moustaches, while raising awareness for prostate and testicular cancers and funds for the Cancer Association of South Africa (CANSA).
Philips is proud to be the official grooming partner of Movember South Africa 2010. "The campaign is an incredible initiative and one that the group supports globally," says marketing manager for Philips South Africa, Sally Green.
Having started in Australia seven years ago, Movember has grown to be an international event, taking place in eleven countries, with Mo Bros (men taking part) and Mo Sistas (the women who support Movember) celebrating the month of the moustache. They can join their 250 000 registered global counterparts by donating their faces and growing their moustaches.
CANSA's Men's Health programme aims to make the public aware of the importance of early detection of prostate and testicular cancer to enable treatment that is more effective with a better chance of recovery. Its cancer screening clinics achieves this. Last year, it recorded 4957 prostate specific antigen (PSA) tests to help detect prostate cancer.
