Armchair critics get their chance

A new project to help advertisers reach their target markets with clearer and more understandable advertisements had hundreds of South Africans between 12 and 80 joining the freelance critics family in the first week, according to AdCritics project co-ordinator Bruce Nortje.

"They won't only be helping to improve the quality of advertisements, but will at the same time earn some welcome extra income for not much of their time," says Nortje.

The whole project is done through cellphones and the Internet. "Even people who don't have their own computers can be part of the process by using the facilities at one of the many Internet cafes," Nortje says.

Advertisers can have market research done - by any profile groups - before, during or after the placement of advertisements. Members of the AdCritics team are notified by SMS to evaluate TV, radio or print media advertisements on a website, which only takes a few minutes.

The information is then analysed by a team of professional analysts and handed to the advertiser. The entire process from evaluation to feedback to the advertiser takes only four working days.

Children over 12 years of age, students, ordinary and professional people and even senior citizens can register to become a member of an AdCritics freelance family and earn extra income. Only 100 members can be accommodated per profile.
