Surprise surprise! News24.com has a new logo, revealed earlier this morning, Thursday, 14 October 2010. The logo redesign is not restricted just to News24 but extends to all the 24.com logos, and the phasing in of all the logos should be finished by the end of next week.

It seems local ad agencies are finally getting with the digital programme, plus luring more expats back. Matt Ross has returned to become executive creative director of Tribal DDB South Africa, which launched two months ago with Michael Udell, another former expat, as MD. Ross - a recent Cannes Cyber Gold Lion and Clio Gold winner - joins from Tribal DDB London, where he used to work together with Udell.

A consequence of the 49% acquisition of The Jupiter Drawing Room (South Africa) & Partners by WPP, announced late last week, is that Jupiter shareholders will be releasing their shareholding equity in DDB SA. Khaya Dlanga, YouTube vlogger, Thoughtleader blogger and MetropolitanRepublic Johannesburg creative, has scooped the SABC-Highway Africa New Media Award in the Student/Individual category, it was announced last night, Tuesday, 9 September 2007, at the awards ceremony at the 1820 Settlers' Monument in Grahamstown, Eastern Cape. The other two winners were Nirmal Shah from Seychelles for Nature Seychelles (www.natureseychelles.org) in the Non-profit category and Togo's Noel Kokou Tadegnon for Sites Média (www.mediatogo.info) in the Corporate category.

Vodacom has acquired a 40% stake in South African startup Zoopy.com, a South African-based social media community website, it was announced this morning, Thursday, 26 June 2008. This follows hot on the heels of yesterday's announcement of Vodacom's new Mobile Internet service which allows accurate representation of the Internet on a cellphone through technology that adapts the PC-screen format of any website into a smaller, cellphone-friendly format.

African social media and news aggregator Afrigator last night, Wednesday, 21 May 2008, launched a page dedicated to the xenophobic attacks currently happening, tracking blog posts, news, podcasts and videos. The dedicated page is similar to the one created for the violence in Kenya that occurred after elections beginning of the year.
