Great South African concept
The Great South African series concept was inherently flawed at the outset. But the worst of it is the radio ad (which ran on Sat 16th after the series was cancelled in the media last week).
The ad is based on boxing fight commentary using Archishop Desmond Tutu in one corner versus Gandhi in another. The use of icons of peace, one a Nobel peace prize winner in so off the mark and unjustified. It is poor taste.
To even contemplate using the analogy of a boxing match, a violent sport at the best of time, in a country filled with violence is in the poorest taste and reeks of lazy creatives and blind brand custodians.
I am sure the Arch dropped his Rum and coke when he heard it first.
As for the poor media planning in running the ad after the broadcast was cancelled. Well nuff said
