Ugandan editors held over cartoon
Three editors from a Ugandan magazine were questioned yesterday over a cartoon criticising President Yoweri Museveni. The Criminal Investigations Directorate is investigating reports of sedition after a caricature of the president appeared in The Independent magazine last week.
According to local reports, the three men will be interrogated again. Meanwhile, the Committee to Protect Journalist has expressed serious concerns over constraints to press freedom in Uganda, as the number of criminal charges against journalists in the country is increasing.
